Pizza is a serious matter.

The pizza that started it.

Pizza is a serious matter. And being Italian abroad can make ordering pizza a little complicated. You want good ingredients, a proper Italian feel, and, ideally, a pizza you actually want to finish.

I’ve been to Con Gusto twice, and I really enjoyed both visits. The ingredients are good, and even the simpler pizzas are very well made. There’s also a nice selection of Italian products and drinks, which always helps.

The staff are genuinely lovely: friendly, attentive, and happy to help without making a big thing of it.

Sad story: I’m lactose intolerant.

Con Gusto offers pizza with lactose-free vegan mozzarella. It’s obviously not exactly the same as regular mozzarella. The texture is a bit different and it feels heavier, but honestly, when I want pizza and don’t want to eat lactose, I’m very happy to have the option. Especially when I’m not in the mood for a sad pizza without mozzarella.

The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, with Italian music playing quietly in the background. You can actually have a conversation, which I appreciate.

Something to start with.

Prices are Zürich prices, so yes, they are on the expensive side for pizza. But considering the quality, I think they’re fair for Zürich.

My verdict

8/10

Good pizza, good ingredients, lovely staff, and a lactose-free option.

Would I go back?

Yes. I’ve already been twice, and I’d go again.
